Electric fences have increasingly become popular choices for protecting residential homes, compounds with sensitive government and consulate offices and private farms where the movement and security of livestock require management and control. Even with the growing demand, poorly installed electric fences have caused serious injuries and in some cases death and destruction of property. For this reason, we at DataWorld Systems have pooled a team of dedicated professionals who guide customers through the process of choosing the most appropriate materials for the electric fence, purchase, delivery, and eventual installation of the fences following strict safety and professional guidelines, followed by routine on call maintenance to unsure continued functioning, as well as solid reliability. Â

Electric fences are designed to complete an electric circuit when touched by human beings or animals. The fence is powered by a component called energizer, which converts into a high voltage pulse. A single terminal releases an electric pulse along a bare wire that is connected to it after every passing second. The second terminal is connected to a metal rod that is nailed to the ground, acting as an earth rod. A human being or animal touching both the ground and the wire during an electric pulse complete an electric circuit and will experience an intense electric shock. Though most electric shocks from electric fences are very painful, they can become lethal in circumstances where the voltage is significantly high.
Choosing an Fence Energizer
When planning to install an electric fence, it is essential to consider the source of energizer. While it is common for most customer to choose electricity from the main grid, it is also possible to use a rechargeable battery that is powered by a solar system as a source of green source of energy. Whether you choose electricity as a source of power or a battery and solar panels, DataWorld got you covered. We have a package to fit the specific needs of every customer. Most modern fences emit pulses of high voltage at a given interval of time, and do not take into account whether there is an animal touching the conductive wires, except for the voltage multiplier based electric fence charger that stores high voltage potential and dumps its charges as soon as a conductive load touches the wires. Depending on the area to be fenced and remoteness of its location, fence energizers may be hooked into a permanent electrical circuit or run by lead-acid battery kept charged by a solar panel. The power consumption of a fence in good condition is low, and so a lead-acid battery powering several hundred meters of fence can last for more than a few weeks on a single charge.
Categories of Electric Fences
Here at DataWorld, we are set to install either permanent, semi-permanent or temporary electric fences to our customers with accurate response to their security and animal control needs.
Permanent Electric Fence
Permanent electric fences require good installation to ensure that users find value for their investment. For this reason, solid corner posts should be firmly installed at all corners, changes of fence line direction and gateways. In-line posts can be a combination of plastic, steel or wooden posts. Except where high visibility is a priority, where tape and rope can be used, permanent fences are best constructed using 2.5 mm high tensile wire that is tremendously conductive and durable. It is paramount to use good quality insulators on permanent fencing. This is predominantly significant on long fences with high powered energizers, as substandard insulators may not withstand the high voltages needed to effectively power a fence of many miles.
Semi-Permanent Electric Fences
Semi-permanent fences are designed to stay in the same place for a brief period that does not exceed two years. They are best suited for livestock, poultry, and to protect crops from vermin. Corner posts, gateways or sharp bends in the fence should be fitted with wooden posts for better stability. The posts should be firmly installed and appropriate insulators used with softwood posts. In-line posts could be either plastic or steel and the conductors could be tape, rope, nets or stranded steel wire. Energizers should be connected to main power in areas with a convenient power supply. Alternatively, 12-volt wet battery energizers offer a good alternative. They are portable and can operate in longer fences more effectively compared to other low voltage energizers.
Temporary Electric Fencing
Temporary fences are moved regularly and can be constructed using battery or solar powered energizers, steel or plastic posts for single or multi wire fences and poly wire, poly tape, poly rope or nets and other lightweight components. Characteristically, these are short fences not exceeding a few hundred meters in length to contain or exclude animals from a moving from one area to the next like in strip grazing. Battery powered energizers are ideal because of their lightweight, thus easy to move regularly. If your electric fence needs fall anywhere in the three categories, we at DataWorld are set to make your dream come true.
